Tyrese Gibson, who will appear in the upcoming Sony movie Morbius, commented that the movie was in the MCU, specifically the same world as the Avengers – but Sony swiftly denied this was the case. Thanks to the trailer release, we're starting to get an idea of what might be next for Peter Parker. We can also expect some familiar faces from Homecoming and Far From Home in the Spider-Man 3 cast. Zendaya returns as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Peter's bestie Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Tony Revolori is expected to appear as Flash Thompson.
That court case formed part of the film's first trailer but, right now, Cox isn't confirmed to appear. Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx's Electro, Rhys Ifans' Lizard, Thomas Hayden Church's Sandman and Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin will all be back for this multiversal epic, while J.K. We get better looks at Doc Ock and Green Goblin's respective returns, while Electro, Sandman and Lizard's returns are also confirmed as part of the movie's villain-stacked cast. Then there's Sony's upcoming Morbius movie apparently linking to the MCU, too, with star Jared Leto also commenting on the film being part of an "expanding universe" – so a crossover doesn't seem that far outside the realms of possibility.
Given he's back in school at some point, however, we think he (with Matt Murdock's potential help) will be found innocent. But, with his secret identity revealed, that's only the first step in clearing his name, so to speak. Finally, rumors that Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil from the eponymous Netflix series have been gaining traction.

Along with all this, we've also gotten a look at some stunt work performed for the movie. Footage appeared to show Zendaya and Tom Holland – or their stunt doubles – swinging from a platform of some kind, with MJ apparently in the same outfit as she wore at the end of Far From Home. We've also got a glimpse at another web-slinging stunt, though this one gives away even less about the movie. Plus, Holland released a picture of him in costume on set, double-masked up. Speaking of the Sorcerer Supreme, set photos that appear to show Spidey and Strange together, with Peter waving at the other hero. We know the two will be working together thanks to the trailer, but where this scene takes place in the movie is practically impossible to guess.
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man. Generally speaking, every MCU film and television show can be found on Disney+. In the case of the Spider-Man series, however, this is not always the case. Due to the fact that Sony Pictures retains ownership of the character, it will not be available for viewing on Disney+. We'll have to wait and see, although a February 2021 casting call did suggest a courtroom scene was being filmed.
Tom Holland is back as Peter/Spidey – but he might not be the only web-slinger in Spider-Man 3. It has been reported that Andrew Garfield is back, reprising his role from The Amazing Spider-Man movies, while original on-screen Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, remains in talks to return. The good news is that – thanks to the ongoing vaccine rollout and filming having already wrapped (with a spoiler-free set-photo to celebrate) – that release date looks set to stay firmly in place.
Willem Dafoe is also back as Green Goblin, from Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man movie. There's also speculation that Thomas Haden Church is back as Sandman from Spider-Man 3, and Rhys Ifans may return from The Amazing Spider-Man. We'll only be getting a quintet of villains rather than a Sinister Six, too, but we're okay with that. The film already has enough characters so, outside of Garfield, Maguire and Cox appearing, it doesn't need to be packed with more people, heroes or villains. For a while there, it looked as if MCUSpider-Man 3 might not happen at all.
Jacob Batalon has also shared some photos, seemingly all from the set of Spider-Man 3, which suggest that Peter will be back at school – and then the trailer confirmed it, though we still don't know how that will work in the movie.
